Open Track Sharing Format

Shared backing tracks generated within our apps are completely self-contained and cross-compatible across our entire suiteβ€”Guitar Studio (Android & iOS), Guitar Solo (Android & iOS), Guitarly (Android), and Guitar Soloist (Android). Rather than relying on cloud accounts or central databases, all chord sequences, tempo markers, and rhythm assignments are compressed into URL parameters.

URL Structure & Cross-App Compatibility

How Shared Track Links Work

When a musician shares a track via link or QR code from any of the apps, the track configuration is deflated with Zlib and encoded into URL-safe Base64 across any of the 4 app endpoints:

https://guitarists-collaboration.github.io/guitarstudio?mix=<compressed_track_payload>
https://guitarists-collaboration.github.io/guitarsolo?mix=<compressed_track_payload>
https://guitarists-collaboration.github.io/guitarly?mix=<compressed_track_payload>
https://guitarists-collaboration.github.io/guitarsoloist?mix=<compressed_track_payload>
  • No accounts: Anyone receiving the link can open the arrangement without registering.
  • Cross-app Universal & App Links: Any shared track link can be opened in Guitar Studio (Android & iOS), Guitar Solo (Android & iOS), Guitarly (Android), or Guitar Soloist (Android).
  • Web fallback & App Switcher: Opening the link on a desktop or browser directs to an interactive track overview where you can switch target apps, share the link, or install any app in the ecosystem.

🎸 How Do Guitar Studio and Guitar Solo Compare?

The two apps are very similar practice companions powered by the same high-fidelity SoundFont audio engine, virtual rhythm band, and interactive fretboard visualizer. The key difference is their specialization: Guitar Studio features an integrated precision chromatic tuner (and does not include scale exercises), while Guitar Solo specializes in interactive scale exercises and modal soloing drills (and does not include a built-in tuner). Both are available on both iOS and Android, and tracks can be shared freely across all 4 Android apps and 2 iOS apps.
